Simple & Flavorful Taco Seasoning You Can Make In BULK

As CEO of The Healthy Edge, I am committed to empowering women to be health advocates in their household. Because let’s face it ladies, when WE are the BEST versions of ourselves…EVERYONE wins! But it takes commitment and focus.

I want to empower you with some knowledge around store-bought taco seasonings. I know, I know. It is SO EASY to just buy that packet, add it to meat and serve. But check out the ingredient list in this common taco seasoning:

Ingredients: Chili Pepper, Salt, Maltodextrin, Spice, Onion Powder, Corn Starch, Yellow Corn Flour. Contains Less than 2% of: Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking Agent), Sunflower and/or Cottonseed Oil, Natural Flavor, Ethoxyquin (Preservative).

I don’t even see many spices! Yikes!

So, here it is. A simple seasoning that you can make in BULK and store in an airtight container or even freezer so you always have it ready to go. Tacos are such a great go-to for those busy evenings or weekend parties, so now you are set up to win!

Home Made Taco Seasoning

Simply mix all of these ingredients together and add (after cooking) to 2 lbs. cooked, grass fed beef (ground) or organic chicken (diced into chunks).

  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper

Any suggestions to make this recipe even better? I would love to hear from you below!

I’ve been looking for a good taco seasoning….How much chili powder? It doesn’t give a proportion. Thanks

    • Amber Thiel

      Hi @jessicasamarziaholroyd:disqus

It suggests 1 Tbsp. of chili powder for this recipe. Hope you love it! Let us know what you think!

  • Melissa Pocock Decker

What are your suggestions for making it in bulk? How much would you use each time if you made a container of it? Thanks!

    • Amber Thiel

Hi Melissa! I usually multiply this by 3 or 4 when I make it in bulk. Then when I use it, I sprinkle, taste, sprinkle more, taste, etc. since each person has their own preference on the strength they want for seasoning. Hope that helps!
